Aria Sportsbook Review 2023

Still one of the newest establishments located on Las Vegas Blvd., the Aria is a stunning spectacle from the outside with an extremely decadent and futuristic look. The star of City Center, you can access the Aria by tram connecting from the Monte Carlo , the Crystals high-end shopping mall, or the Bellagio. It’s got more of a flashy than classy feel on the inside to complement its aesthetics, and within its gigantic space is also a sportsbook.

Aria Sportsbook

aria sportsbook review

There is no shortage of TVs as they are spaced out across the main wall but also have a couple on the side. No TV is too small and a few of them, including the ones on the side, are extra large. The entire sportsbook is smoke-free and has a nearby bathroom.

Size and Location

Considering how big the Aria is, you would have figured its sportsbook to be larger. There’s a VIP section on the far left, but its general seating space is fairly limited. It does, however, have a convenient location. It is tucked away in its own corner away from noisy people and slot machines although the music is still partially audible. If you park in the garage, it’s only a short walk from there just past the poker room. If you valet your car, you’ll have to walk across the casino.

Traffic and Viewing Ability

Since the Aria is a popular casino for tourists, it is guaranteed to fill up fast on its busiest days like NFL Sunday or during March Madness. If you’re not planning to get there extra early, don’t count on getting a seat. On most other nights it should never be too busy, nor will the staff be strict about letting you sit in the VIP section.

As you first enter the sportsbook, to the right is the cashier which only has about half a dozen betting windows. Directly in front of you are some tables and chairs, along with pamphlets of that day’s betting action for sports and horses, as well as futures and other upcoming events. To your left and above your head, but before you enter the main seating area of the sportsbook are a row of TVs, but not to show games. This is the betting board. Not the usual huge betting board you’re used to seeing, they’re all spaced out on TVs in small lettering. Not only is that a problem, but if you’re sitting inside the sportsbook that means you have to get up to go check the lines. You can’t just look up anywhere or turn your head. This is very inconvenient for bettors.

Luckily, you can create an account and download the PlayMGM betting app . With the app, you can make all the same bets available in the sportsbook from your phone as well as live betting , which is betting on games already in progress. The Aria does not yet have live betting over the counter but is working on it. The only other major difference with the app is the max bet amount is much lower.

The racebook is on the other side with four rows of eight desk seats. If you’re planning to bet on both, then you won’t be able to watch both at the same time.

Regarding the lines themselves, the Aria is not going to rip you off on the day to day stuff. You may have to pay extra juice on certain lines here and there but depends more on what kind of action is coming in. What you want to be careful with are the future’s bets. These tend to have a very small payout as most of its patrons are tourists who aren’t going to persistently search for the best price.

Drinks at Aria Sportsbook

It’s getting a lot harder to drink cheaply these days at casinos, and the Aria sportsbook requires a betting ticket to obtain one. You must bet $125 on sports per drink ticket and $20 for the horses, so, they’re merely a throw-in. But, if you can get friendly with either a cashier or a cocktail waitress, it shouldn’t be impossible to talk your way into an extra ticket or two.

Casino at Aria

The casino floor is very large and has multiple high limit sections providing food and drink. If you aren’t looking to go big, you’ll have a ton of slots to choose from along with every table game you can think of.

Since you’re in a luxurious casino, the betting limits are never going to be cheaper than $10 and expect that there will be more $15 tables.

Dining and Bars

aria sportsbook review

There is a video poker bar with plenty of TVs very close to the sportsbook but is outside of it. And all around the Aria are numerous other swanky bars and lounges. They’re all pretty expensive, but that comes with the territory of being inside a top-level casino. The Aria has plenty of other fine dining restaurants including a Mexican place called Javier’s. Its steakhouse is by Jean Georges, and if you want tapas, check out Julian Serrano.

Hotel at Aria

The Aria is a complete resort featuring a palatial spa and gym. There is a ton of hotel rooms, suites, and penthouses at the Aria. Just your standard room would feel like the master suite at a regular hotel. The furniture and bathrooms are gorgeous, the beds are comfortable, and multiple views of Las Vegas are available.

Aria Sportsbook Rewards

If you’re hoping to rack up points using your player’s card, you can only receive bonuses by betting the horses which credit 3% towards food comps for every wager. However, it’s still recommended you swipe your player’s card for every bet anyway because this links each bet to your name. That way, should you win a bet but lose your ticket you can still receive payout assuming no one has found it and already cashed it.

It’s a cool and comfortable sportsbook despite its relatively small size, but without having the aesthetically pleasing big betting board to easily look at, it really loses something. Not just for the bettor, for the book itself. The whole point of having an easy to see the betting board is so you always know what lines are current, and what games are about to start. If casual bettors have to get up and see what the lines are every time they’re interested in a game, the likelihood of them getting tempted by having a line staring them in the face is minimized. The other drawbacks are minor enough that you can live with them, but no betting board is unacceptable.

Aria Sports Book Review

Seats:  Seating for approximately 100, with lounge style accomodations available in the rear area of the sports book.

Screens : 100 screens, including 11 jumbo-sized HD screens.

The well-appointed Aria Sports Book follows the newer trend of lounge-style seating while being one of the more swanky sports betting havens on the Las Vegas Strip. There are different sections of seating areas within this sports book, which is tucked away in a corner of the casino area adjacent to the SkyBox Bar and Grill. The betting counters are well-staffed so getting action on a game or a horse race is a breeze.

Drink tickets are offered for horse players betting $20 or more and you will have to lay the lumber on sports bets in order to score drink tickets, which can be redeemed at the aforementioned SkyBox Bar. The cocktail service here can fall short at times. On a recent weekend afternoon, I sat in the horse racing area for approximately 20 minutes until I was approached by a female Aria Staff Member and was offered……a massage! For a fee of course. Needless to say, I declined the massage and indicated that I would prefer to redeem my drink ticket, but alas, no luck.

Aria is a beautiful property and the sports book, with its upscale and modern feel, is equally as impressive. If you are looking for a different type of set up from the typical Vegas sports book, Aria will certainly fit the bill. But plan ahead and get here early on busy sports betting days in order to take advantage of the plush seating that gets gobbled up quickly.

Odds and Ends:  Although Aria has a myriad of cuisine options, The food choices near the Sports Book are limited. Good news is that the adjacent SkyBox bar has food available with a bevy of TV screens and they even have a convenient take out counter so you can enjoy your meal in the sports book. But beware, the food is not cheap and a majority of the burgers on the menu run north of $15. Aria announced that the Skybox will be closing in early January 2013 and a new restaurant concept will be taking its place.

Vegas Sportsbook Review: The Aria

CityCenter

In my opinion, the Aria casino has the best sportsbook in Vegas. It’s a lofty honor, because it’s really not hard to create a fun time when you combine sports with betting, televisions, and drink service, and there are a lot of places on the Strip that manage to do so rather beautifully. In the end, picking a favorite becomes more about personal taste than about something absolute.

Take the sportsbook at Caesars Palace , for example, which ran a close second to the Aria book for me this year. I was at Caesars on Saturday for the Divisional Round games, and it was perfect for the Saints-Niners game. As a vast expanse of space that’s easy to walk by and get caught up in, the crowd for the game kept growing, to the point where the rows of people standing behind occupied seats looked to go more than ten deep. With each big play during the fourth quarter, the shouts from the crowd got more people to walk over from the slots and the table games to check out what was happening. By the time Vernon Davis caught his now-legendary touchdown pass, it felt more like being in a section of a stadium or a really large sports bar than sitting in the middle of a casino.

If Caesars is like being in the best possible sports bar, Aria is like being in the best possible living room for a day of football. It’s not anywhere near as big as Caesars, and it attracts less of a crowd by virtue of being off the main gaming floor, but it’s more comfortable and modern. Most casinos have leather seats, but Aria’s are bigger and swankier, with little coffee tables, adjoining loveseats, and larger couches that can seat up to three. The smokiness that can permeate some of the best books in town isn’t as frequent in Aria, since the smokier crowd that populates the race book is in the corner, facing the opposite direction. Most books from older casinos, like the Mirage, were built with horse racing bettors in mind first and sports bettors as a secondary market. Having been built in 2008, Aria’s one of the very few books where sports betting is the clear priority in both layout and space, with about three times as much space for sports as there is for racing.

What makes the Aria book, more than anything, is their televisions. There are 137 televisions in the Aria sportsbook and adjacent sports bar under the control of sportsbook manager Raphael Esparza, and they’re the best-looking available at any of the books I’ve seen in the city. Put it this way: You know a book has good televisions when the managers of other sportsbooks are jealous of them. The number of TVs means that Aria can show just about every single sporting event that anyone would care to bet on during even the busiest days of the year. The biggest game of the moment gets the star treatment on two enormous, stadium-size televisions as well as piped-in audio.

Drink service can be a little erratic when the book is humming, but that’s to be expected in such a dense space. The good news here is that you can pay for drinks with cash as opposed to needing a drink ticket, which makes life much easier. Of course, you can still get drink tickets by betting $125 on sports or $20 on the ponies. There’s also a bar just outside the book, and the sports bar next door has a to-go window that allows you to place an order during one commercial break and then pick it up during the next set of commercials without missing a play. It is far easier to sit at the Aria sportsbook for an entire afternoon than it is virtually anywhere else in the city.

In the end, Aria’s the top book because it does more things right than anyone else. The Hilton might have more futures bets. Caesars might be bigger. The Wynn might feel more opulent. The Aria can compete with all of them, though, and it takes second place to nobody on comfort, food and drink accessibility, and television quality. You’ll need to get there early on a Sunday morning to guarantee a couple of seats, but it’s well worth it.

Conference Championship Lines

Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots Patriots -7.5, total 50.5

Thanks to New England’s dominant win over Denver and Baltimore’s struggles to put away Houston, this line was briefly at 8 points on Sunday before it settled in at 7.5. The total has moved up ever so slightly, opening in 49.5 in some of the bellwether books and bouncing up to 50.5 as of Tuesday night.

The issue in handicapping this game is the classic “one week vs. many weeks” debate. If this had been a game at the end of the regular season, the Ravens would never be getting more than a touchdown here; if anything, the line would more likely be 6.5 or so. Because of what just happened this past weekend, though, the line’s moved over a key number and is likely to stay there. So, as a handicapper, how much do you weigh the past week’s performance in judging a team’s level of play? We clearly don’t have the right answer, but without any dramatic change in team health, why would Baltimore be a significantly different team from the one that won 12 games during the regular season?

New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers 49ers -2.5, total 42.0

This one moved wildly on Sunday, as the Wynn opened the line at 49ers -1. One offshore book got enough action to make the Niners a 1-point underdog for a brief time, but enough action eventually came in on San Francisco to push the line up to 2.5 points, where it’s stayed since Sunday night.

When these two teams faced off in Week 10, the 49ers started the week off as 3-point favorites at -125 and took action as the week went along, ending up as 4-point favorites in most places. That won’t happen here because the casinos would get cooked by people trying to get a middle over the key number of 3, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Niners get boosted up to -3 by game day.

On the other hand, that total is going to keep falling. It opened at 42.5 or even 43 in most places, but San Francisco is expected to take on rain from Wednesday through Sunday, with a fair amount of wind during game day on Sunday. That would seem to favor the Niners, but then again, how will that affect a 49ers team that’s so dependent upon field goals?

Guaranteed Money

As the season goes on in Vegas, punters have had the option to bet on the generic Super Bowl matchup by picking one conference or the other. Because the NFC held what appeared to be two or three of the best teams in football, a typical bet for most of the year would have allowed you to take whoever the AFC representative was as a 4.5-point underdog.

Well, that changed after this weekend. With the Packers and Saints both losing, the line shifted dramatically toward the AFC, where the conference’s top two seeds are still alive. The generic Super Bowl bet now has the NFC as a 4.5-point underdog, which presents the opportunity for a fantastic middle. If you bet AFC +4.5 and take NFC +4.5 now, you can win both bets if the game finishes with a margin of four points or less, regardless of who wins . You can also choose to bet on the NFC representative, who will likely be at +140 or so, and guarantee yourself a profit while middling in the case of a 1-to-4-point win by the NFC team. Hooray for free money!

Best sportsbook in town.

A very nice sports book that is smoke free in Vegas? Yes! Sports book is big and has seats but get there early for football! Casino was large and really nice. Seemed to be one of the bigger ones in vegas. Good drink service also. Spent most of my trip gambling here.

Casino at Mandalay Bay

I dont gamble but the staff were very good at explaining the rules to each game to make it easy for me to try and play. Didn't win any of the games BUT I had great fun participating!!

Remember when you play the slots you get free drinks....only thing you have to do is WAVE A GIRL DOWN!! Or at least go hunt one down, either way, out of two days there only one girl ever approached my mother and me. I do like the casino it is fun. My grandmother prefers the slots there than anywhere else, she loses a lot, and wins a lot, so she always comes out even. For some reason servers love her. My father prefers the poker tournaments there. He plays poker all over the world, and prefers the Aria's daily tournaments than anywhere else he has played. He like the atmosphere, the people who play, and the good service. My only problem there is the air conditioning/smoke/ perfume...whatever they pump into the air. If I stay in the Aria for too long it makes me very sick. Now one else in my family has that problem, only me, strange.

When I registered for my gaming card, I inquired about the slots tournament. I was told that I needed to get 500 points on my gaming card BEFORE I could register for the tournament. I was not given any time frame in which to earn the 500 points, and was told that the tournaments are held daily. That was the end of the explanation. I obtained my gaming card on a Thursday morning, racked up 508 points over Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and went to register for the tournament late on Sunday. I was told, at that time that I needed to rack up the 500 points between the time I registered for the tournament and the tournament itself. Basically they were telling me that the points needed to be obtained in the 24 hours before the tournament. You would have to spend quite a bit of money and sit at the slots for hours to do this. This is not what I was led to believe by the person who gave me the original explanation. When I asked for a manager to fix this issue, I was told that the rules were the rules, even though I was not given a copy of the rules at the time I inquired originally. The manager didn't seem interested enough to help, and the original employee who registered my gaming card did not explain the tournament rules correctly, so make sure you understand before you spend a few days playing only to find out that it's not what you may think.

Not a good casino to play to win, just lose, unless you play max and you'll win what you can. Drink waitresses walks by you in fast pace and only attends those who "looks" rich for more tips. Casino attended are super nice, walks in medium pace to check everybody and do their best to get the drink waitresses to attend you very soon (but still you wait 10 more mins later). Planet Hollywood casino is the same, maybe I'll come back when it's not a holiday...maybe then I'll get some drinks by then.

It is nearly impossible to get a beer while gambling, but the casino itself is nice. Perhaps they should invest in a little more wait staff and keep patrons there. After we left here, we moved on up to Planet Hollywood where they had cocktail waitresses everywhere and it was a LOT more crowded there even though the ambiance isn't as nice.

  5. Vegas Sportsbook Review: The Aria

Las Vegas. January 18, 2012. by Bill Barnwell. In my opinion, the Aria casino has the best sportsbook in Vegas. It's a lofty honor, because it's really not hard to create a fun time when you combine sports with betting, televisions, and drink service, and there are a lot of places on the Strip that manage to do so rather beautifully.

  6. Aria SportsBook & Racebook Review

The Aria Sports book still has everything that a racing fan would want but they make it very clear that betting on sports is the main focus of the room. Aria Sportsbook also covers all of the action better than any other book. They are the only sports book to boast 137 televisions on nearly every space possible on the wall.
