  3. A Case Series and Literature Review of Subacute Infective Endocarditis

Abstract. Endocarditis is a life-threatening, relatively rare disease caused by an infection of the endocardial epithelium of the heart. Its clinical presentation is highly variable, depending on whether it presents acutely, subacutely, or chronically. Also, the wide array of causal etiologies and pathogens makes its diagnosis and treatment ...

  4. Atypical Presentation of Infective Endocarditis: A Case Report

The American Heart Association defines Infective Endocarditis (IE) or bacterial endocarditis as an infection caused by bacteria that enter the bloodstream and settle in the heart lining, heart valve, or blood vessel [1]. IE is considered the fourth most common life-threatening infection syndrome after sepsis, pneumonia, and intra-abdominal ...

A 19-year-old female patient presented with Staphylococcus aureus infective endocarditis, with suspected subdural brain hemorrhage, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy, and septic renal as well as spleen infarcts. The patient had extensive vegetations on the mitral and tricuspid valves and underwent urgent mitral and tricuspid repair.

  6. Complicated infective endocarditis: a case series

Background Infective endocarditis is associated with not only cardiac complications but also neurologic, renal, musculoskeletal, and systemic complications related to the infection, such as embolization, metastatic infection, and mycotic aneurysm. 7. Case Report: Infective endocarditis developing serious multiple

Endocarditis caused by Staphylococcus, Candida species; HACEK and Abiotrophia have a higher risk of peripheral emboli. 2 The risk of peripheral emboli is higher in mitral valve endocarditis than in aortic valve endocarditis. 6 In our case, a vegetation of 1.5×1.9 cm was found, causing cerebral emboli in the first week, followed by emboli in ...

  8. Infectious Endocarditis

Infectious endocarditis is the inflammation of the endocardium, the inner lining of the heart, as well as the valves that separate each of the four chambers within the heart. It is primarily a disease caused by bacteria and has a wide array of manifestations and sequelae. Without early identification and treatment, a myriad of intracardiac and far-reaching extracardiac complications can ...

Background Infective endocarditis (IE) is a severe condition characterized by inflammation of the heart endocardium and valves, commonly caused by Gram-positive bacteria. Complications such as embolic phenomena and organ abscesses can arise, necessitating timely diagnosis and intervention. 10. A Case Report of Infective Endocarditis with Failure of the Empirical

Case Report. In the present study, a case of a 43-year-old male patient with previous valvular heart disease was reported. The patient was admitted with a diagnosis of IE, but the etiology was unclear. Accurate diagnosis and treatment were achieved by combining metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) with Q fever serological antibody assay.
