Research/Project Support Program
Fall 2024 Application
- Student Due Date: Monday, November 4, 2024 by 12:00 PM
- Faculty Mentor Approval Due Date: Wednesday November 6, 2024 by 5:00 PM
The Research/Project Support Program provides funding for students pursuing projects unrelated to their culminating experience. Selection criteria include a statement outlining the project's significance and its potential impact on the student’s field. Individual students may receive awards of up to $600, while student groups may receive up to $2,000, based on an application that outlines the research and anticipated costs. Please note that international students may have up to 30% withheld for federal income tax.
Types of Research We Will Fund
- Field work (such as interviews, travel to field trip sites, surveys), Experiential (lab work, experiments), Theoretical (research into methodologies and exploration, engineering design) and Performance/arts (composing of music, choreography, screenwriting, licensing for film screening ).
Eligibility Requirements
- Graduate students in master’s or doctoral programs with a GPA of 3.3 or above.
- CSUN staff receiving a university fee waiver can receive up to $500.
Please note that international students may have up to 30% withheld for federal income tax.
Not Eligible
- Individuals who have previously received support from this program are not eligible to apply for additional funding.
- Students who have received funding for research associated with the Thesis Support Program .
Please note that this funding is not intended for students working on a thesis, graduate project, or dissertation. We encourage those students to apply for the Thesis Support Program.
Budget Categories : Supplies, Minor Equipment, Travel, Library Searches, Performance Expenses (e.g. Music).
Not allowed:
- Food, laptop, computers, tablets.
- Conference travel to present research. If you need support, please visit the Graduate Student Conference Travel Award website.
Requirements if Funding is Awarded
- Submit an itemized list of all expenditures by June 30, 2025
- Participate in the CSUNposium scheduled in Spring 2025 . Recipients of this award will receive an email notification about the event in December.
