Effective controlling of the teaching-learning demands effective measures of evaluation. It needs to be sufficiently reliable, valid, objective, comprehensive, diagnostic, formative, summative and practicable. The ongoing measures and techniques adopted in our schools and educational set up suffer from many of the drawbacks, and limitations. A number of measures have now been coming up for bringing improvement in the evaluation system; the significant ones are mentioned adopting the grading system. The study will be conduct on grading to provide the best evaluation system for student which develops the learning habit in new generation.

This study investigated teachers’ grading decision making, focusing on their beliefs underlying their grading decision making, their grading practices and assessment types, and factors they considered in grading decision making. Two teachers from two junior high schools applying different curriculum policies in grade reporting in Indonesian educational context were interviewed in depth to reveal their grading decision making. The results show that the teachers believe that assigning grades is not only for measuring the students’ ability, but also for making them active users of the language, giving them life skills and experience and motivating them. In addition, these teachers use various grading practices involving not only formal assessment but also informal one. Remedial tests, giving more tasks and grade adjustment are also done to reach the criteria of passing grade. The factors considered in grading decision making are achievement factors in the forms of scores from formal an...

Since the advent of course system of education in tertiary institutions world-over, Cumulative Point Average (CGPA) has been in use as an Assessment Instrument instead of Cumulative Weighted Average Mark (CWAM). Consequently, mapping of percentage marks into an n-grade points system which is required to generate the much needed CGPA has become necessary. Countless methods of mapping have been witnessed across different tertiary institutions. In addition, the number of grade point, 'n' varies from institutions to institutions. While it is a universal fact that 'n' can take any value less than 100, it is nevertheless important to know that the value of 'n' has never been greater than 12. In Nigerian tertiary institutions, the value of 'n' varies between 4 and 7 while 5 is the most common. However, simply equating 'n' to 100 is not sufficient to convert the percentile system to an n-grade points system in order to generate the required CGPA. It is discovered that there is no sound mathematical method employed to relate the CGPA ranges normally used to classify degree to the percentage scores earned by individual students. This paper (paper 2) is primarily written to establish the required parameters and the most suitable format of an n-grade points system which is referred to as a Non-Graded Fail Grading System with a fail grade, 'F' assigned a zero value (NGF/GS F=0) while another paper (paper 3) presents the development of the required mathematical relationship between CGPA and percentage scores ranges.

Assigning grades is probably the most important measurement decision that classroom teachers makes. When teachers are provided with some measurement instruction, they still use subjective value judgments when assigning grades to students. This paper therefore, examines the grading practice as valid measures of academic achievement in secondary schools student for national development. Three hundred teachers (300) were sampled by means of stratified random sampling techniques from the three senatorial districts in Delta State. A validated questionnaire was used for data collection. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while t-test statistic was used to test the stated hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the study revealed that there was no significant difference between male and female teachers grading of students in secondary schools; there was significant difference between urban and rural teachers assigning of grades to student...

This study aimed to design, develop, deploy and evaluate an electronic class record (e-class record). Microsoft Excel is used to develop the electronic class record and several Microsoft Excel arithmetic operands and functions like VLOOKUP, IF, AVERAGE, COUNTIF are used. A worksheet template was developed to accept name of teacher, course code, course title, section, schedule, room, student number, student name, grade level, gender, date of each classes, base grade, test items attendance, and performance of the students. These serve as the input of the e-class record. The e-class record automatically computes the grades of the students following the standard grading system. Developmental process and prototyping method were utilized to develop the e-class record. Testing, deployment and evaluation have been initiated to observe its acceptability. It is found out that the e-class record can generate the quarterly and final grade of the students, total number of absences and tardiness of the students, grade sheet with corresponding level of evaluation of each student in the class and summary of the total number of students for each of the level of proficiency. It is recommended that further study may be initiated to utilize the output of this study as an input of an online application such as online grade viewer. Security of previous submitted grades from being changed by the teacher accidentally or intentionally must be also taken into consideration. A report card may be also included in the system.

In the current digital era, all schools from elementary to tertiary levels certainly require computer equipment and supporting applications to support teaching and learning activities. One indicator of learning success is seen from the students or their learning outcomes. Learning outcomes are the success achieved by students, namely student learning achievements in schools that manifest in numbers or grades. Many schools in managing grades currently use a media system for storing student data, teacher data, class data, lesson schedule, and score data that are still done offline without a database, as well as what happened at the Santa Ursula Junior High School of Jakarta. Filling in the assignments, daily tests, semester test scores, and final semester examinations is always done in writing on paper, which results in a slow score calculation process, so it takes a long time. Based on this condition, the researchers designed and created a web-based information system that precisely handled the management of student scores and printed them out. The design of the grading management information system for the academic administration of grading management was built using the PHP programming language with a database with MySQL and XAMPP Server. This system aimed to facilitate the academic administration of schools, teachers, students, and homeroom teachers.
Using a non-experimental comparative group design in a sample consisting of 100 English teachers randomly selected from 30 secondary schools of a district of Kerala and assigning fifty teachers to groups for marking and grading, this study compares inter and intra-individual reliability in marking and absolute grading. Studying (1) the in marking and absolute Grading in terms of coefficient of rank correlation, (2) the intra-examiner and inter-examiner inconsistency in Marking and absolute Grading and (3) comparing Marking and absolute Grading in terms of intra and inter -examiner variation , revealed that grading system discourage teachers from looking for fine distinction where they do not exist and teachers honestly confess their inability to be precise in assessment while they score answer scripts intended for grading.
Grading is the one of the major function, result, and outcome of assessing and evaluating students' learning in the educational setting. This short report provides three basic information about grading students: Its definition, purpose, and rationale. The definition of grades presents the concept of grading that is acceptable in literature as well as its process. The purpose of grading is discussed in terms of feedback administrative purposes, discovering exceptionalities and motivation. The rational of grades are further explained through absolute and fixed standards, norms, individual growth, and achievement relative ability and effort. Defining Grading ffective and efficient way of recording and reporting evaluation results is very important and useful to persons concerned in the school setting. Hence, it is very important that students' progress is recorded and reported to them, their parents and teachers, school administrators, counselors and employers as well because t...

The Development of Online Grading System for ICT Department of Bestlink College of the Philippines was conducted to examine the issues related to the logistical problems associated with collecting, grading, and distributing of grades of ICT senior high. This system design to benefit teachers, faculty members, students and future researchers to create a system that is reliable, time-efficient and reduced the potential human error in computing grades in different subjects. A comparatively fast access of information of grades that helps the students, parents and teachers to minimize the time consumed in submitting and viewing the grades of the student rather when using the existing system. The proponents used the system development life cycle in developing the project. First, the proponents held system planning by using the SMART approach. Second, they analyzed the requirements by determining the needs or conditions necessary for alternative grading system. Next, the proponents designed a system that satisfies the conditions using various system design tools such as site map, ERD and DFD. After system design, the proponents build the system by ensuring that the design was followed and meets the requirement of the proposed system. Lastly, the proponents test the system on its accuracy, consistency and reliability by tweaking some parts if necessary. The proposed system features a login page where users can input their credentials. If the login is successful, the user will be brought to home or main page which displays the vision and mission of the school. The main page is linked to four other pages namely; registration, record, grading and viewing. In the registration page, user setup his/her account by filling up necessary information. The record page contains the database of the students. The grading page enables the user to compute the grades of the students. The viewing page displays the final grades of the students. The proposed online grading system has the following attributes; it secures the system from unauthorized user, it allows the user to accurately compute the grades of the students, it enables the user to easily input the grades of the students, it reduce the time in evaluating students’ performance and it displays the final grades of the students.

Committee on Degrees in Social Studies
- Grading and Honors
Social Studies theses are sent to two readers, who provide grades and comments. Graders use a Latin scale, with honors grades ranging from a very rare straight “summa” (the equivalent of an A+) to a “cum minus” (the equivalent of a B-). It is also possible to receive non-honors grades (which revert to a letter grade scale). If the first two grades are more than a Latin grade apart (e.g., “magna plus” and “cum”) the thesis will be sent out for a third reading.
You must pass your thesis and complete both parts of the oral exam in order to graduate with a degree in Social Studies. Every student in recent memory who has submitted a thesis has passed and graduated.
Social Studies uses a formula to calculate honors recommendations that takes into account course grades, thesis grades, and oral exam grades. If a thesis has received two readings, both readings will be weighted equally. If a thesis has received three readings, the median grade will be weighted 50% and the two outliers 25% each.
All courses in our five overlapping social science departments (anthropology, economics, government, history, and sociology) count for concentration credit, whether or not they are part of a student’s focus field. In addition, we will count courses outside of these departments that were successfully petitioned to count towards a focus field. We only count course grades earned in the first seven semesters, as we do not have access to eighth semester grades when we determine honors.
Our recommendations are “English Honors” and they are necessary but not sufficient for college-wide Latin Honors, which are based on all eight semesters of grades and are subject to college-wide GPA cutoffs. You can learn more about the honors process at the college level by reading the Harvard College Handbook for Students .
Regardless of your Latin Honors outcome, you may list any English Honors you earned in Social Studies on your resume.
